Government created that conundrum. All high school students of color learned right away that having kids meant the government would pay for their housing and food. It is only females that head to college and who do not get pregnant who have to pay for their own food and housing.
There are always some jobs even a woman with small children can do if she can’t work because daycare is so expensive. My wife did 3 paper routes until the kids got into school. She took the kids with her.
One of my girlfriends lost her father at age 10. She was the oldest of 5 kids, her mother never re-married, never owned a car, never drove, yet somehow her mother managed to walk to work in a nearby factory, doing piecemeal assembly work, often doing double shifts at work, to support and raise her 5 kids, alone, starting at 30 years old after her husband died in a construction accident, with an almost unintelligible, and very thick, Italian accent (she came here at 19 or 20 years old, to get married, and have a family of 5 kids, with her husband, both from Italy, around 1935). With all the obstacles and difficulties in the world stacked against her, yet she still managed to raise and take care of all of her 5 kids. So, what is this African-American woman’s excuse? She speaks English a lot more clearly, than my ex-girlfriend’s mother EVER did–and she grew up in this country, too, so she is not experiencing the same level of culture shock, that that Italian immigrant did. So, what is her problem? She had the kids–now go to work, woman, stop making excuses for your laziness–and start working hard! It will be good for your character and honor, and give you self-esteem and immense FREEDOM, too–instead of being a SLAVE–to govt welfare benefits!!!
