The world of sleaze. Time to go back to the world where people have to work for 90% of their non sleep time. Diddy’s success was based on sleazy recording and entertainment companies looking to make money. Gangsta rap and all that entailed was the ultimate sleaze. The industry called it “urban music”. When people moved into ghettos and urban centers, they stopped working. They made money trafficking drugs, children, people etc., etc. The lyrics in this urban music were despicable. We had the Puff Daddies, etc., outdoing each other for sleaze, and that was applauded. A bunch of soft, gun toting morons claiming to be more tough than the next moron. Drugs, drugs, drugs. The War on Drugs was intended to fail. Certain sectors of America doing and selling drugs was intended. Wake up, People.
I have always hated rap “music”. When rap first came out with the likes of Ice Tea, etc., my husband and I would not let our son listen to it. It was mostly about cop-killing and MF, in the literal sense. It was disgusting then! The contents have only gotten worse over time.
Leslie as a musician of more than 30 years I could not agree more. Rap is NOT MUSIC. Most all of the fools who do it can’t even read music. I played everything in the brass field and majored in percussion. I taught drum and fife corps as well as privet. My 30 years where spent playing percussion as well as being the lead vocal in the bands one of which had a recording contract with Decca records until the bass player quit two days before signing. Today you don’t have to meet any standards to record, just make money.
I always dislike the so-called “Rap” music. The people that made this kind of music can not read or write well; so they came up with this kind of sounds and repeating over and over with loud musical instruments to attract deaf ears. Unfortunately, they made a lot of money from it and just look at their lifestyles.

Urban music? I thought it was raw sewage music. Nowadays even flushing the toilet can be considered music.
