I hated rap from the start. My son brought hope a cassette from Ice-T in the 90’s and it was mostly MF and other vulgar lyrics and cop-killing lyrics. We banned it from our house. We told him cops were the good guys. We don’t talk about killing them. I told him the MF lyrics were insulting to all mothers. He tried to say they didn’t mean it literally. I said, if you don’t mean to be insulting and vulgar, just don’t say it. Before that my son mostly listened to R&B which we didn’t object to. He also listened to some rock. Now he hardly listens to rap at all but still likes R&B, rock, some country – mostly oldies. I’m so glad he really wasn’t much into rap. I won’t miss it if it goes away.
