I watched the interview, he did say that the DEI caused the shortage of qualified applicants though, and I WOULD AGREE,…. there are a great many jobs that cannot be filled by DEI candidates for various reasons, including speech qualities, Spoken Language Skills educational levels, Intelligence, and Attitude,….

ESL’s shouldn’t be an ATC, As radio transmissions MUST Be “CLEAR AND CONCISE IN ENGLISH”(according to ICAO Regulations), Accents cause problems as do lack of English Language skills, Inflections, ATC’s Should Only be Responsible citizens, Vetted and able to learn Rapidly, Able to adapt on the fly, and able to get along with all folks, ATC’s should always be chosen on the basis of MERIT never sex, Race, Color, Religion, political affiliation, ALSO NO FRUITCAKES should be anywhere near a “Tower” as the stress levels are very High, even higher than Pilot stress levels,…. It was called “not normal”. One controller was communicating on two different frequencies between the 2 pilots, it should have been two controllers. The helicopter was flying above the 200 foot allowed height limit. The plane and helicopter could not communicate between each other, even through the air traffic controller. There seems to be numerous errors, incompetence. I think it would be a safe bet that DEI is at least partly responsible. Who made the decisions? Why is any helicopter allowed to fly so close to the flight landing and takeoff paths of airplanes at a very busy airport? Weather was not a factor. Why was there insufficient air traffic controllers on duty – 19 instead of 30 in such a critical position? That’s inexcusable! That’s what we know so far and not all of the details are in yet. DEI hires, especially in management positions that make the critical decisions is no so far-fetched.
