J6 was in fact a violent attempt to negate the results of an election and change the government without consent of the governed. No, they weren’t charged with or convicted of “insurrection,” specifically, because that’s not how anti-rioting laws are written. Nevertheless, by any reasonable definition, that’s exactly what it was.
An insurrection is not carried out by people with cell phones taking selfies. By the liberal definition a peaceful protest consists of burning buildings, looting stores, beating and killing people. By their definition J6 should be labeled as a block party.
