I had tried to watch Tom Hanks movie Greyhound, but it is not available on DVD nor free on streaming–requiring an enormous amt of $, to pay Apple+, to watch it. So, I never did watch it (because I refuse to pay for movies on streaming, and only watch free movies & TV on streaming). But then I heard mil critics rip apart the phoney scenarios in that fantasy mil movie–as opposed to what had really happened back then–and realized that it was all a lie. Yes, convoys got hit hard, and yes, Allied navies had to fight hard to defend them–but not in the unrealistic way that Hollywood Hanks was portraying. I much rather enjoyed the 2019 movie, Midway, with much more accurate portrayals of what happened in the other big ocean, during WWII. In fact, after reading the 2005 book, Shattered Sword, I’d say that almost every event depicted in that 2019 movie, Midway–was accurate. Of course, what the movie doesn’t depict, was the U.S. communication and intelligence failures & the resulting defeats that followed Midway, particularly during the Guadalcanal campaign–but Japan had no chance of winning that war against us back then at all, in the long run–despite winning some great individual battles against us. But that 2019 movie Midway depicted our first great victory against Japan, in that war–and was much more significant than Tom Hanks dinky little fight defending one convoy out of thousands of other convoys that were run, during that war–and he wasn’t in THAT great movie–instead he was in the movie that wanted to rip me off–and lie to me about what had happened, as well. So much for him…”missing the boat”–as usual…
