When I drove semi truck for a living I went into Chicago at least twice a week, sometimes 5 times a week, and even though I had to watch my back, I never really felt threatened. But I haven’t been to Chicago in 25 years at all. When I drove truck, it was always NYC most drivers didn’t want to go to and some outright REFUSED to go to NYC. One driver told me that even if only half the horror stories about NYC were true, that was enough for him to NEVER go there. I went once and I decided never again. Now it sounds like Chicago is just as bad as NYC, but many other large cities are also competing to be just as bad as NYC and Chicago. Glad I’m retired.
