If it were just Gene, his wife, and dog, it might be explainable as carbon monoxide. But there were 2 other dogs that were alive. This looks VERY suspicious.
Here is a thought. Maybe wife OD’d and dog ate some pills as well, or she decided to take dog with her. Gene found her, ran for help and at 95, had a heart attack or stroke , dropped down and dies, with door open. Remaining dogs get out… The autopsy will help a lot. A space heater doesn’t reach that far. And why do folks keep saying “on the ground”? Ground is OUTSIDE, Floor is inside. Ever hear of a floorbreaking – No, oudoors is a groundbreaking… Just venting poor grammer. He was found lying on the floor, not outdoors on the ground.
